Airtel upgrades to state-of-the-art IN technology

Chennai: Airtel, Chennai's leading cellular operator, on April 29 announced the migration in prepaid technology from "comverse" to the state-of-the-art "intelligent network" (IN) technology from Ericsson.

An Airtel press release said that the new technology ensured faster and easy call access and enabled the users to access calls instantly.

The release said that the strength of the Airtel's base stations in Chennai would go up from the present 120 to 150 in the next few months ensuring better coverage in the city.
