Mumbai: The SENSEX opened fractionally lower and later witnessed extremely narrow
movements in keeping with a narrowly mixed trend at early stages on the Bombay Stock
Exchange (BSE) on April 12 on alternate bouts of buying and selling.
The BSE Sensitive Index opened down at 3,496.39 as against April 11 close of
3,497.67 and later fluctuated in a range between 3,510.03 and 3,488.62 before being
quoted at 3,509.56 at 10.30 hours (IST).
Activity was at as low ebb and operators were confined to only small transactions in
select counters. However, Foreign Institutional Investors (FIIs) were believed to
have been making fresh purchases in some second-rung counters.
