Selling pressure in IT stocks limits SENSEX range
Tuesday, April 9 2002 12:28 Hrs (IST)

Mumbai: The SENSEX opened marginally up and later witnessed extremely narrow movements at early stages on the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) following alternate bouts of buying and selling.

The BSE Sensitive Index opened slightly up at 3,482.51 over April 8 close of 3,480.17 and later tended to move upwards rising to a high of 3,491.60.

However, selling pressure in IT stocks restricted the SENSEX movements having trapped in a range between 3,491.60 and 3,472.38 before being quoted at 3,482.37 at 10.30 hours (IST).

Attributing selling pressure in IT shares to a profit warning from computer giant International Business Machines on April 8, market sources said Foreign Institutional Investors seemed to be sellers in Infosys Technologies, Satyam Computers and some others.
