'Guj violence won't affect investment scenario'
Tuesday, April 9 2002 17:09 Hrs (IST)

Kolkata: CII (Confederation of Indian Industry) President Sanjiv Goenka on April 9 said that the current situation in Gujarat would not affect the inflow of investments at the national level, though it would have some adverse effect at the state level.

"Any happening in that state will have an impact on the investments, but it will be confined to that state only. I think there will not be any impact nationally," Goenka told reporters in Kolkata.

To a question, he said that Gujarat situation would also not affect the flow of Foreign Direct Investment into the country.

Earlier, speaking at the inaugural session of a seminar-cum-exhibition on Development of the Service Sector in the Eastern Region, he said that the East held considerable promise in that sector.
