New Delhi: Sterlite Industries on April 4 signed transaction documents for acquiring 26 per cent stake in Hindustan Zinc Ltd (HZL).

The shareholders agreement along with the share purchase and guarantee agreement was signed between the government, HZL and the new strategic partner - Sterlite Industries.

However, Sterlite would make the payment of Rs 445 crore on April 11, 2002, sources said.
