Mumbai: The SENSEX opened better and remained past 3,500-level at early stages in
keeping with a mild rally in select old economy stocks on the Bombay Stock Exchange
(BSE) on April 2 on fresh buying from institutional investors.
The BSE Sensitive Index opened up at 3,505.40 as against a close of 3,500.18 on
April 1 and later rose to a high of 3,525.15 before being quoted at 3,514.74 at
10:30 hours (IST).
Foreign institutional investors (FIIs) were believed to have been making fresh
purchases in Indian stocks, mainly shares of a few public sector undertakings (PSUs).
Domestic operators and retail investors were seen making small commitments in some
counters.
