Bangalore: Public sector engineering giant Bharat Earth Movers Limited (BEML) has
posted a record sales turnover of Rs 1,421 crore for the fiscal 2001-02, showing a
growth of about 5.5 per cent over the previous year.
Its value of production touched Rs 1,470 crore with a pre-tax profit of Rs 12.5
crore, an increase of 17 per cent over the previous year, a BEML release said.
The value of total export during the year was about Rs 115 crore out of which the
direct exports accounted for Rs 36.7 crore.
The company has a very comfortable order book position at the end of the year valued
at about Rs 2,000 crore to be executed during the coming years, it said.
The year saw BEML consolidating its position in the Defence sector with contribution
from it rising upto 40 per cent, the release said.
With a view to meeting emergent requirements of Ministry of Defence, BEML executed
orders for Tatra vehicles, heavy recovery and armoured recovery vehicles, personnel
carriers and engineering mine ploughs, it said.
