Tektronix inks pact to acquire German optical firm
Tuesday, March 19 2002 14:47 Hrs (IST)

New Delhi: Strengthening its position as a leading provider of test and measurement solutions for optical component manufacturers, Tektronix, Inc. has signed an agreement to acquire Profile Optische Systeme GmbH, a technology leader in optical component test and measurement.

Profile will be integrated with Tektronix' optical business, expanding the company's portfolio of products focused on physical layer test and providing the technology building blocks for future optical network test solutions. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed, an official press release said.

"We are investing in optical communications as a key area for growth in the future," Tektronix chairman and CEO Rick Wills said. "Profile has the optical technology expertise and products that complement Tektronix's current optical test portfolio and will support enabling applications and emerging technologies in the years to come," he said.

"While we have been consistently recognised for our performance-leading products, as an independent organisation we would have had to make significant investments to grow our company to the next level," Profile president and CEO Adalbert Bandemer said.

"This acquisition will give Profile the resources to leverage its optical expertise into new applications as well as provide an extended global distribution channel for immediate worldwide distribution."
