Sino-Indian trade can be tripled, says CII
Tuesday, March 12 2002 18:45 Hrs (IST)

Chennai: A CII study team, currently on a visit to China, has found that there exists tremendous opportunity to increase Indo-Sino trade from the current levels of $ 3.6 billion to $ 10 billion in the next few years.

The team also felt that there existed a huge latent potential of building exports from India to China on a sustained basis, a CII press release said on March 12.

The release said that there was good scope for Indian industry to collaborate with Chinese companies for setting up manufacturing bases in China in partnership with Chinese companies.

The study team visited the leading export processing zones, institutions of excellence, factories and government agencies and held discussions with Chinese entrepreneurs.

The team, which is in China since March 6 is expected to return to India on March 13.
