New Delhi: Hewlett-Packard will inaugurate HP Labs India, one of its world class
research labs on February 26, according to an official press release. The HP Labs
India will be headquartered in Bangalore.
HP Labs India will focus on generating usable, economically sustainable technology
solutions for the country through understanding the relevant social, cultural,
economic and technological drivers.
To mark this event, HP will host a major technical symposium at J N Tata Auditorium
at the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), focused on innovation for emerging
markets. More than 500 people from academia, industry, non-government and government
organizations are expected to attend.
Dr Srinivasan Ramani, director of HP Labs India, will host the event. Featured
speakers include Debra Dunn, HP vice president, strategy and corporate operations,
and Dr Kris Halvorsen, representing HP Labs, the company's central research
facility.
A variety of demonstrations scheduled for the event will include examples of
enabling technologies, such as a low-cost e-mail appliance, public kiosks,
connectivity solutions and speech interfaces designed to work in local languages,
the press release said.
HP Labs India will inaugurate joint research lab with IIT Madras on February 28. The
joint lab will host collaborative projects between HP researchers and faculty and
students at IIT Madras.
