Bangalore: TVS Motor Company is developing a high-power, four-stroke racing bike,
claimed to be India's first indigenously produced motorcycle for racing
purposes.
A senior company official said on February 22 the 18 to 20 hp bike, with four
valves, is being developed with a specially designed suspension system.
It would be between 150 cc and 175 cc, Vice-President of the company's R&D, Vinay
Harne, told reporters on February 22.
Price tag is yet to be finalised and it depends on the number of units to be
produced, Harne added. The bike would hit the roads in two years time.
Meanwhile, TVS Racing, the company's racing division, has decided to participate in
the coming motocross events in Sri Lanka, China, Thailand and Malaysia, he
said.
TVS Racing team is all set to sweep the 2001 MRF National Motocross Championship
2001, whose fifth and final round is scheduled to be held here on February 24, the
company said.
