Washington: Former Enron chief executive officer Kenneth Lay will appear before two
Congressional panels investigating the scandal-tainted bankruptcy of the energy
giant, CNN said on February 6.
A spokesman for House Financial Services Committee chairman Michael Oxley told CNN
that Lay had agreed to appear before the committee on February 14, CNN said.
Lay's lawyer, Earl Silbert, told CNN the former chief would appear before the Senate
Commerce Committee next week, without giving a precise date, the television news
channel added.
Lay refused to appear voluntarily before the Senate committee on February 4 to
explain how top Enron executives walked away from the failed company with millions
of Dollars.
Both the Senate and House panels voted on February 5 to subpoena Lay.
