Lupin sued by Medicis
US-based Medicis Pharmaceutical Corp, a maker of acne and wrinkle treatments, has sued Lupin to get a 30-month stay from the FDA, which can block US sales of the generic versions of the antibiotic pimple treatment Solodyn. The complaint, which was filed in federal court in Maryland, seeks to prevent Lupin from entering the market until patent expiry. Acne medicines accounted for $325 million, almost two-thirds of the total sales for Medicis last year.
