Ahmedabad: Gujarat circle of the country's largest lender State Bank of India (SBI) has registered an overall profit of 30 per cent as per January 31 figures, higher than any other state, a top official said today.
There was an overall healthy growth for the bank with nearly 60 per cent year-on-year growth in personal deposits, 25 per cent growth in advances, outgoing CGM (Gujarat Circle) H C Pattnaik said here today.
"The personal deposits of the bank grew from Rs 11,590 crore as on March 2008,to Rs 18,400 crore as on January end, 2009. The advances grew from Rs 18,000 crore in March 2008,to Rs 28,000 crore till Janaury end, showing an increase of 24 per cent, highest so far," Pattnaik said, before relinquishing the office.
"The total combined deposits of SBI, inlcuding those of its merged entity State Bank of Saurasthra (SBS), grew from Rs 22,340 crore in March 2008 to Rs 44,640 crore till January end this year," he said.
He estimated the deposits to grow by another Rs 1,000 crore by this fiscal end.
In a change of guard, T C A Rangnathan, associated with International banking operations of SBI, today took over as the new CGM Gujarat Circle.
