Sensex opens on volatile note

Mumbai: A key index of the Indian equities markets was volatile in early trade Thursday, and was ruling nine points above its last closing figure about ten minutes into trade.

The benchmark index of the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), the Sensex, which opened higher at 14,694.31 points, was ruling at 14,654.64 points, 9.17 points or 0.06 percent above Wednesday's close.

The SP CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) too was hovering around its previous close, rising 0.04 percent to rule around 4,346 points. Broader market indices were in the green, with the BSE midcap index ruling 0.29 percent higher and the BSE smallcap index moving up 0.64 percent.
