Ahmedabad: Low-cost passenger carrier Indigo Airlines today announced to double its flight operations from the city from December 1.
"We will start eight new flights from December 1, the new destinations will be Mumbai, Chennai and Hyderabad in addition to Indigo's existing flights to New Delhi, Pune, Bangalore, Jaipur and Kolkata from Ahmedabad," Indigo President Aditya Ghosh told PTI.
"We are bullish on the market and beginning from December we will be offering 1,440 seats per day, with a total of sixteen in and out bound flights from the city," he added.
Allaying the fears of retrenchment in airline sector, Ghosh said, "We are hiring staff across the country. The recruitments are being done for the position of commercial pilots, airports services to name a few."
Launched around two years ago, the low-cost passenger carrier as part of its aggressive expansion plans has placed an overseas order for 100 aircraft, including a fleet of A-320 airbuses. The airline presently has operations in 17 cities of the country.
