New Delhi: The main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party's prime ministerial candidate L K Advani today held discussions with top industry leaders to understand the impact of the global financial crisis on the Indian economy.

Corporate honchos who called on Advani included Bajaj Auto Chairman Rahul Bajaj, Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani, Reliance Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group chief Anil Ambani, Essar s Shashi Ruia, Bharat Forge s Baba Kalyani, Jaiprakash Industries J P Gaur, Assocham President Sajjan Jindal and Ficci s Rajeev Chandrasekhar.

The industry leaders briefed Advani about the impact of the global slowdown on the domestic industry, which is witnessing a demand recession and suffering from high interest rates.

"BJP as the principal opposition party has been reviewing certain economic policies and giving constructive suggestions to the government. A crisis has been building up due to faulty policies (of the UPA), party leader and former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha had said earlier.
