Ranchi: After supplying equipment for handrayaan-I, Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) is manufacturing the biggest satellite launch pedestal for Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) for its GSLV MK-III project.
The pedestal will be used in ISRO s future moon mission, the release said here that it was also manufacturing other equipment for the project, a HEC release said here.
This is the biggest satellite launch pedestal ever manufactured in India for ISRO s GSLV MK-III project. It is a huge fabricated structure weighing approximately 800 tonne. Its size is 19.2x19.2 and height is 8.6 metre, it said.
A 32 metre EOT crane weighing 400/60 tonne required for the project is being made by HEC. The special features of the crane are a girder of 34 m in length, 3 m in height and 76 tonne weight and the rope drum will be 2500 dia with a length of 7200m, weighing 35 tonne.
An emergency disc brake for the main hoist would be made for extra safety, the release said.
The folding-cum-vertically repositionable platforms are located in the solid stage assembly building of the project, installed at three levels from 12 m to 42 m --- these platforms are foldable as well as vertically responsible.
These huge structures with special type of drive system to withstand heavy loads required during assembly of GSLV MK-III, the release said.
