Hyderabad: The British Midlands, a UK government funded organisation, is offering investment opportunities for Indian IT, automotive and aerospace firms in two English regions - East Midlands and West Midlands.

The region is the largest commercial centre outside London and provides easy access to whole of UK and mainland Europe, Market Manager-Asia Pacific, David Fisken said at the CII-Hyderabad here.

It is also the geographical and cultural gateway to USA, he added.

Fisken said automobile segment was the most promising sector in the region with over 900 firms employing 80,000 people. "It (Midlands) is home to 19 of the top 20 global automotive suppliers and has a concentration of the world s leading RD centres," he said.

Talking about the aerospace industry, Fisken said the region is one of the most significant aerospace clusters in Europe with over 700 companies including Midlands Aerospace Alliance, Rolls Royce Plc, Goodrich, Meggitt and Smiths, BAE Systems, Telematics and Airbus 380.

Besides, over 35 companies of the region are involved in the supply chain for Airbus 380,he added.
