Centre aid for upkeep of Mughal heritage site

Chandigarh: The Centre has sanctioned Rs 40 crore for restoration, conservation and upgradation of the historical buildings at the Yadavindra Gardens of the Mughal period in Pinjore near here.

The Centre also accepted Pinjore as a developed town and as part of the integrated tourist circuit of Panipat-Kurukshetra-Pinjore, for which a total of Rs 16.30 crore was sanctioned separately, Haryana Minister of State for Tourism Kiran Choudhry said at Pinjore yesterday.

Yadavindra Gardens, one of the oldest Mughal Gardens, was declared the first heritage site of the state by the tourism department, she added.
