Coimbatore: Coimbatore would have a capacity addition of 31,700 broadband connections in 92 exchanges, under three million broadband project and connections would be provided on priority basis for subscribers with own modem, a top BSNL official said today.
Under phase IV.5, 56 cell towers and two Universal service obligation sites, would be provided in Coimbatore telecom district, by adding 58,000 new cellular connections in a couple of months, the official said.
Installation of necessary equipment has already commenced and towers and sites would be ready by september, which was part of rs.400 crore one million eonnections across Tamil Nadu telecom district, A Shahjahan, Principal General Manager, told reporters here.
Rural Broadband was being provided on demand in 22 exchanges, with a capacity addition of 1,400 and wireless broadband on new EDWAS technology was planned in 39 rural telephone exchange ares, he said.
Optical fibre cable would be laid in 300 kms stretch exclusively for Mobile, WLL and broadband connectivity this year. Shahjahan said with 29 WLL towers planned at different locations, 21,750 more WLL connections would be provided. Source : PTI |
