Saturday, May 17, 2008 22:09 [IST]
New Delhi: As Delhi prepares for the Commonwealth Games 2010, a leading industry body has put forward a proposal to the government to launch a fleet of additional 4,000 buses through corporate initiative.

"With an aim to provide safe, reliable and efficient bus service, we have submitted our four-point action plan before the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi Tejendra Khanna," PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industries President L K Malhotra said today.

The action plan also includes a recommendation to the Government to allow private operators to park their buses in the depots of Delhi Transport Corporation.

Other measures suggested in the plan include setting up of drivers training institutes, fixation of new fare structure and allocation of permits considering safety of passengers as well as the interest of operators, Malhotra said.
