Lanka rechristened as Tata Communications Lanka

Colombo: VSNL Lanka Ltd has been renamed as Tata Communications Lanka Ltd, following the global launch of Tata Communications as the new corporate identity for VSNL.

Tata Communications Lanka Ltd is a part of the 29 billion dollar Tata group, one of India's largest business conglomerates.

Tata Communications Lanka Ltd CEO V Ravi Sankar said, the Sri Lankan subsidiary, like its parent company, will focus on the new world of IP, MPLS, ethernet and managed services."

"We will strive to leverage the global capabilities of Tata Communications to create a new world of communications in the Sri Lanka market," he said.

Earlier, the group CEO and Managing Director Tata Communications N Srinath had said that the companys new identity in Sri Lanka will strengthen its commitment to the "long lasting relationships, we have with our customers, partners and stakeholders across the country."

The Tata Communications brand integrates the former VSNL, VSNL International, Teleglobe, Tata Indicom Enterprise Business Unit (TIEBU) and Cipris brands worldwide.

"Tata Communications Lanka Ltd will leverage the Tata Global Network which is one of the most recent and advanced submarine cable and IP networks to meet the demand for converged IP solutions," the company said in a statement.

In Sri Lanka, Tata Communications Lanka Ltd offers wholesale, enterprise as well as retail solutions, including international voice, international IP bandwidth for internet service providers, international private lease circuit.
