Chennai: Chennai-based software product company GoFrugal Technologies and IT company Sun Microsystems on Thursday entered into a strategic partnership for developing low cost solution for small and mid sized retailers in the country.
As per the deal, Sun Microsystems would provide the platform to run the application made by GoFrugal Technologies.
"The hardware, operating system, application server and the database will be provided by Sun while the application made by GoFrugal will run on this platform" Sun Microsystems India Pvt Ltd National Manager-Strategic Alliances, Amit Didolkar, said.
Responding to a query on how much was the investment made for the deal, Amit said, "There is no investment for this, as Sun and GoFrugal are partners."
"With the new product retailers would be able to adapt in a quicker way and would find it more beneficiary" GoFrugal Technologies Pvt Ltd Co-CEO Kumar Vembu said.
Elaborating on how much does a retailer need to spend for purchasing the new product, Kumar said, depending upon the retailer's requirement, it would be less than a lakh considering he has a minimum of five stores.
The organised retail segment in the country is growing at 45 per cent and is expected to grow 25 per cent annually and through the new product the retailers would be able to perform large number of transactions, he said. Source : PTI |
