New Delhi: Citigroup's investment research team in India has been found as best in the country, followed by those of UBS and Merrill Lynch, in a research conducted by a US magazine in Asia, excluding Japan.

According to Institutional Investor Inc, JP Morgan Securities has tied up with Citi Investment Research for the best overall coverage of Asian equities markets.

In India, a Citi Investment Research team, led by Aditya Narain, has been ranked first followed by UBS research team headed by Sandeep Bhatia and Merrill Lynch team led by Jyoti Jaipuria.

In the country and regional research coverage, Citi captured first place in India, Singapore and Taiwan and top five for all countries under its coverage, including Hong Kong, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, South Korea and Thailand.

"We are delighted with the results as this is testament to the hard-work and dedication from not only the research analyst teams but also tremendous support from our equity sales teams. Our strategy of providing the breadth and depth of stock coverage has worked well," Citi Investment Research Asia Pacific director for research, Adrian Faure, said.

JP Morgan won 11 team positions (first, second, third place or runner-up) in 11 countries and regions covered in the survey.
