Luthra law firm inducts 12 partners

New Delhi: Amid talk of opening up the legal sector to foreign firms, Indian law firms are bracing up for the challenge by developing expertise in highly specialised fields.

Luthra Luthra Law Offices, with operations in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore, have recently inducted 12 new partners in an initiative, according to firm representatives, aimed at meeting global challenges.

Rajiv Luthra, managing partner and founder, speaking on the firm s growth strategy explained "we look to grow both organically and strategically. Every year, based on our client needs and feedback, we concentrate on expanding certain areas of practice."

The law firm, with a strength of almost 150 lawyers and voted the "Most Dynamic Law Firm for the Year" by Asia Legal Business, has expanded its practice in taxation (direct and indirect), specialised real estate and intellectual property practices, he said.

Reacting to the boom in the Real Estate sector and given how confounding the laws of this country could be in this sector, he said the firm has developed the expertise to provide highly specialised advice on title confirmations and foreign investment to majors like Blackstone, Lehman Brothers, Capitaland and Tishman Speyer, "which most corporate law firms shy away from."

The clients are appreciative of this approach as Chambers Partners quote "(that the firm is a) good choice for important corporate work as we know that the advice is always sound and of high quality," he said.
