Mumbai: Reliance Communications (RCom), the country’s second largest mobile-phone operator, is targeting the $20 billion global retail international long distance (ILD) market with added features on its direct calling cards which will make it easier for customers to make calls when overseas.
These will make it easier for The Anil Ambani controlled company will use the Express Dial Solution for the service. A customer can download the Express Dial software on to their phone from the net or through an SMS. All ILD calls will then be routed through Reliance’s intelligent network (IN) platform.
Once the software is downloaded, the customer will not have to remember and key in any password for accessing the service.
A RCom spokesperson said, “Reliance India Call and Reliance Global Call are international calling solutions with over 1.5 million overseas retail customers in US, UK and Canada. The IP-enabled infrastructure of Reliance in over 40 countries across five continents offers attractive avenues to expand the geographic footprint of our international calling suite of services”.
Meanwhile, RCom has launched unlimited free STD calls (within the RCom network). The product will be available across all existing and new Reliance Mobile customers.
For Reliance Mobile post paid customers, the monthly rental for those opting for the free STD offer will be Rs 440 while it will be Rs 496 for pre-paid customers. For Reliance Hello users, unlimited free STD will be available for a rent of Rs 525 only.
