New Delhi: Wipro Technologies, the IT services unit of Wipro Ltd said it has been selected by Credit Suisse as a partner in its organisation-wide human resources transformation and deployment initiative.Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Bangalore-based Wipro will work with Credit Suisse in designing and operating the HR service delivery centre (SDC) in Wroclaw, Poland, which will provide support to Credit Suisse’s more than 20,000 staff in Switzerland.

Wipro and Credit Suisse already have an existing facility in Pune, where a second HR SDC will also be located to provide support services to other Credit Suisse employees.

“We believe that Poland is an excellent location for Wipro’s new global centre due to its extremely talented workforce and economic advantages, ” Ramit Sethi, senior vice president, BFSI & Knowledge Services, Wipro BPO said in a statement.

Polish media had earlier reported that Wipro, the third biggest Indian technology company by market capitalization, plans to build a research and service centre in Wroclaw, hiring more than 200 IT specialists.

Wipro and Credit Suisse selected Wroclaw, which churns out highest number of graduates in Poland, because of its competent talent pool and support systems.

The HR center will be jointly managed by Wipro and Credit Suisse and will deliver employee support, HR transaction processing in areas such as recruitment, rewards and recognition, performance management and workforce administration etc.

This center launches Wipro’s operations in Poland and is according to its plans to have pan-global presence. It already has centers in Cebu, Bucharest and Shanghai.

In 2006, the Pune centre leased by Credit Suisse inked a two-year contract with Wipro to utilise the premises and also outsource services for a range of banking functions, including IT, HR and finance.
