New Delhi: Aiming at providing medical care to passengers, the IGI Airport has tied up with Apollo Hospital to set up two advanced medical centres with automatic machines to handle acute medical emergencies.
"We have tied up with Apollo Hospitals for setting up the Medical Centres in all passenger and cargo terminals of Indira Gandhi International Airport," DIAL CEO B S Shantaraju said. The Indraprastha Apollo Hospital has been awarded the license to operate and manage medical facilities at all passenger and cargo terminals of IGI Airport.
"We are fully aware of the importance of providing medicare to the passengers as well as the emergency medical care for employees working at the airport," Shantaraju said. Apollo's Managing Director Richard Larison said: "Apollo Emergency care services across India are the most robust network to offer emergency care at any given time... And with this endeavor Apollo will provide 24X7 emergency care at the IGI airport."
A four-bedded medical centre each at Domestic and International Terminal would be set up initially. Three Advanced Life Saving Ambulances for mobility on airside and city side will be available with paramedics - round the clock at the Airport one each at Domestic Terminal, International Terminal and Cargo Terminal.
One paramedic, one medical coordinator and one doctor will be present round the clock at Domestic and International Terminals. A Casualty Evacuation Centre at Domestic airport would also be set up.
