Tiruchirapalli: Tirupur based Vishnuraam Textiles Ltd proposed to go in for a Rs 100 crore expansion in the ensuing fiscal and put up a garment unit at Kancheepuram in a Joint Venture with an Indonesian company as part of these efforts, a top company official said today.
A Annamalai, Vice Chairman cum CEO of the company said the factory would be set up on eight acre site at an outlay of Rs 50 crore and hoped that production would commence by Aug 2008. This unit would produce 1600 pieces of trousers and shirts for the export market, he said.
The parent company from Indonesia would itself absorb about 50 per cent of the produce. Vishnuram had already located the market prospects in USA for the trousers and shirts and hence marketing would not be a constraint, he said.
In the second phase of expansion in the ensusing fiscal, Vishnuram would add 12,000 spindles each to the two textile mills at Vudumalaipet and Dindigul at a cost of Rs 50 crore. The mills already have a capacity of 18,000 spindles each, churning out both 100 per cent cotton yarns and polyester blender yarns at any ratio combination, he said.
Vishnuraam's garment accessories unit of at Tirupur, which manufactures six lakh square inches of labels, narrow oven lables and hand-tags for the readymade garment industry and about one million garment zips, would soon come out with wall hangers and Calendars with oven yarn technique, producing six pieces of calendars up to A-3 size, he said.
The company have outsourcing centres for collection of quality cotton from Guntur, Gujarat and Maharastra from local ginners and 30 percent of cotton is also procured from Egypt.
Customers for the yarns include Himset Singe Bangalore, ETN Yarn Exporter in Kerala and Karnataka and also few buyers in China and USA.
