Daily Chennai-Sharjah flights from Mar 30

Tiruchirapalli: National carrier Air India has increased its frequency on the Chennai-Tiruchirapalli-Thiruvanathapuram-Sharjah sector to make it a daily service.

According to an Air India release here, the initiative was part of the summer schedule of the airline, which would come into effect from March 30. Previously, Air India was operating six flights a week, except Fridays, on the sector.

As per the revised timings, the flights would depart from Chennai at 1000 hrs and arrive here at 1050 hrs. It would leave for Thiruvanathapuram from here at 1135 hrs and reach Sharjah at 1530 hrs (local time). In the return direction, the flights would be operated via Tiruchirapalli only on four days - Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

On the other days, the flights would be operated on the Sharjah-Thiruvanathapuram-Chennai sector, the release said. Meanwhile, Air India had withdrawn the twice-a-week Chennai-Tiruchirapalli-Chennai service, operated on Mondays and Thursdays.

Flight IC 590 operated on the Tiruchirapalli-Chennai sector on Mondays and Thursdays would also be withdrawn with effect from March 30, it added.
