New Delhi: Project Management Institute plans to work with the Indian Institutes of Technology and the Indian Institutes of Management for joint programmes in project management in various areas.
"We will approach the IITs and IIMs by the end of this year and would bring out joint programmes in about one year after that," PMI Chief Operating Officer Gregory Balestrero told PTI.
Project Management Institute (PMI) is a global membership association dedicated to advancing the most effective and appropriate application of the best practices of project management.
The students would get MPM (Masters in Project Management) qualification on the completion of such programmes. The courses would be either short-duration certificate programmes or long duration programmes of two years.
PMI launched such programmes in China and has 15,000-20,000 students pursuing them at the moment.
It also plans to conduct programmes for various ministries in India for management of projects like road construction and creation of other infrastructure.
"We want to conduct programmes for the Ministry of Urban Development and the Ministry of Human Resources Development for project management related issues," said Balestrero.
PMI is already working in the area of project management with some of the biggest companies in India including Infosys, ONGC, Reliance and Satyam Computers.
It has 251,000 members in over 160 countries. India has the third largest PMI membership, after the United States and Canada, with seven chapters and over 13,000 members. Source : PTI |
