GM Pune unit to start production from August

Vadodara: General Motors India Pvt Ltd plant at Talegaon near Pune in Maharashtra will start manufacturing cars from August this year.

Ankush Arora, Head of Sales and Marketing Department of the company, said this plant is being set up at a total estimated cost of Rs 1300 crores and it will produce 1,40,000 cars per year.

The plant, located at Halol in neighbouring Panchmahal district, about 30 kms from here, produces 85,000 cars per year.

General Motors has made a total investment of Rs 3,400 crores in these two plants, Arora said.

The small car to be manufactured by Tata will not affect them as we have been satisfying the needs of various types of consumers, he said.

The six categories of cars being manufactured in Halol plant are: Apark, Yuva, Aveo, Oper SRV, Opera M and Savera and cost between Rs 2.15 lakh and Rs 18 lakh, Arora said.
