VSNL to focus on wi-max

Chennai: VSNL, provider of wholesale voice services and a global telecom company, plans to invest heavily in wi-max technology for providing broadband services, a company official said today.

Speaking to reporters here, Srinivasa Addepalli, Head of Corporate Strategy, VSNL said about $500-600 millionPatil will arrive here tomorrow on a three-day visit to Karnataka. The President will participate in a function organised by Bangalore Mediation Centre, an alternative dispute resolution wing set up by the Karnataka High Court, tomorrow.

On February two, Patil will flag off the luxury train "Golden Chariot". She will leave for Hampi, the seat of ancient Vijayanagar kingdom, on February three to visit the archaeological monuments there, official sources said here today.

During her visit, Patil will also be reviewing the administrative works in the state, which is under President's rule since November 28 last. The President will hold a meeting with the Governor Rameshwar Thakur, three of his advisors, Chief Secretary P B Mahishi and Principle Secretaries of various departments, official sources said.
