Mumbai: Wadias-promoted GoAir today said Edgardo Badiali has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Badiali, a senior aviation professional with over 15 years of senior management experience, would report to GoAir Managing Director Jeh Wadia, a company release said.

Before joining GoAir, Badiali was the CEO of Italian low- cost airline MyAir. Badiali was the co-founder and member of Executive Committee of the European Low Fares Airline Association (ELFAA). He has also held various senior positions in leading airlines, including Swiss Air and Jet Airways, the release added.

The appointment at the helm of GoAir comes at a time when the airline is on a major expansion plan. GoAir recorded a whopping 73 per cent growth in passenger traffic during the nine-month period ended December of the current fiscal. The airline has also crossed the milestone of flying over three million passengers.

As a part of its next financial year's operational strategy, GoAir is considering network expansion with addition of new airports, the release added.

The East region would be a major area of expansion. In October 2007,GoAir started taking deliveries of its USD 1.2 billion order for 20 aircraft with Airbus in July 2006.

At the end of 2007,GoAir had already received two aircraft deliveries from the total order placed, while the 2008 deliveries would be aligned to its expansion plans.
