Thursday, January 31, 2008 09:41 [IST]

New Delhi: The Government permitted foreign direct investment (FDI) up to 74 per cent on the automatic route for non-scheduled airlines, chartered airlines and cargo airlines.

It also allowed foreign airlines participation in the air cargo, but rejected direct or indirect participation by foreign airlines in non-scheduled airlines and chartered airlines.

The FDI cap was also raised from 49 per cent to 74 per cent on the automatic route for ground handling services, subject to sectoral regulations and security clearance, Information and Broadcasting Minister Priya Ranjan Dasmunsi told reporters after the Cabinet meeting that gave the approval.
