IBM India bags national awards

New Delhi: IBM India has received two national awards for helping differently-abled people by promoting an "inclusive atmosphere" and making technological innovations to suit their special needs.

President Pratibha Patil presented the awards for Best Adaptability of Innovation to Provide Cost Effective Technology and Outstanding Work in Creation of Barrier-free Environment for the Persons with Disability to IBM India Research Lab Director Daniel Dias here yesterday.

Both these awards were given in recognition of IBM's efforts to build an inclusive workplace by leveraging its research expertise for making accessibility initiatives and enabling a culture that fosters growth for people with disabilities, Dias told PTI today.

While one award is for providing cost-effective technology to improve the employability, productivity and self-reliance of differently-abled people.

The second award is for the efforts to create barrier-free environment and working condition for the disabled persons.
