Ginger Hotels plans nation wide footprint

Mumbai: Roots Corporation (RCL), a subsidiary of Tata Group s Indian Hotels Company (IHCL), today announced the next phase of expansion of Ginger Hotels to have its presence in over 30 cities across the country.

Ginger Hotels are no-frills properties developed by Tata Group aimed at providing basic accommodation facilities to travellers at low rates.

Expansion plans were announced on the occasion of the launch of the 10th Ginger Hotel at Puducherry here today by RCL's Chief Executive Officer and Director Prabhat Pani.

"RCL's next phase of expansion include the launch of refurbished Rail Yatri Niwas in New Delhi before March 2008, a hotel in Ahmedabad and a second hotel in Pune," Pani said, adding that Ginger Hotels will shortly be present in over 30 Tier I and Tier II cities.

RCL is also close to finalising sites in Chennai, Mumbai, and Kolkata, while properties in Panaji and Pantnagar and the first mall-based hotel will be rolled out by March 2008.

Preparatory work has also commenced for Ginger Hotels in Mangalore, Guwahati, Jamshedpur, and Paradip in Orissa.

The first Ginger Hotel was launched three years back in Bangalore and based on consumer feedback, RCL has launched 9 more properties in the last 20 months.

Presently Ginger Hotels are operating in Bangalore, Haridwar, Pune, Bhubaneshswar, Mysore, Nashik, Durgapur, Trivandrum and Agartala.
