Chennai: IBM's Webshere has been ranked as the market leader in the Application Deployment Software market in India by research firm IDC.

According to IDC Packaged Software Tracker 2006, IBM Websphere's market share stood at 28 per cent, a release from the software major said here today. IBM has bagged significant customers in the previous financial year and has seen maximum traction in the Telecom and Banking sectors in Websphere adoption.

With customers like, State Bank of India, Max Newyork Life, HDFC, Tata Sky and BSNL, IBM has emerged as the most preferred partner in application software, it said. Websphere has been one of the fastest growing areas for IBM Software Group and more than 9,000 independent software vendors from across the world write applications on top of Websphere.
