New Delhi: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India today issued notices to multi system operators (MSOs) and local cable operators (LCOs) directing them to compulsorily transmit Doordarshan's Urdu channel.

It has been brought to the notice of the authority that a number of service providers, cable operators and MSOs are not re-transmitting DD Urdu channel in the manner specified in the provisions and notifications of the Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995, TRAI said in a statement.

Accordingly, Trai has asked all LCOs and MSOs to re-transmit the channel in accordance with the provisions of the Act and notification issued by Prasar Bharti, it added.
