Vestas bags deal for exporting WEGs to Canada

Chennai: City-based Vestas RRB India Ltd, manufacturers of wind turbines, has signed a deal worth nearly $2 million for exporting wind energy generators to Canada.

The company is exporting two wind turbines of 600 watt capacity to Canada. Freebreeze Energy Systems Ltd will be sourcing the wind turbines to Canada, Sarvesh Kumar, Deputy Managing Director, Vestas RRB, told reporters here today. Canada had been a potential market for wind power generation. The country had a total wind power generation of 1,451 MW by 2006-end.

The company's turnover for the year was Rs 1,000 crore and is expecting to reach Rs 1,400 crore next year. "We expect our exports to be in the range of 15 per cent of our turnover next year," he said. He said, "We plan to make inroads into the US market by leveraging on our engineering and quality expertise".
