Wednesday, October 31, 2007 12:07 [IST]

Dubai: New Delhi Television Limited (NDTV) has launched an English language channel to cater to the four millions Indians in the Gulf. There is a huge interest in the Gulf about what is going on in India and the channel will provide coverage of news and current affairs, a company official said.

The major portion of the 24-hour programming will be in English, with a brief slot devoted to Hindi viewers. Group chief executive officer K V L Narayan Rao said the channel will outsource some programmes to media production houses based in the region.

NDTV will soon set up an office in Dubai to run its Middle East and North Africa operations. The company is also willing to start an Arabic language channel in the region if it finds a suitable partner, Rao said.
